Newfoundland and Labrador PC Party Leader, Paul Davis, joins Federal and Atlantic Canadian Official Opposition Leaders to Oppose Trudeau’s Carbon Tax
On February 8, 2017, Interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Rona Ambrose, along with the leaders of the four Atlantic PC parties: Jamie Baillie of Nova Scotia; Blaine Higgs of New Brunswick; Paul Davis of Newfoundland and Labrador; and interim Leader Jamie Fox of Prince Edward Island, issued a joint statement criticizing the Trudeau government on imposing carbon taxes on the provinces.
In the statement, the PC Party leaders advocate that: “Not only will [a Trudeau carbon tax] increase the price of food, transportation and fuel but it will also make virtually everything more expensive. Atlantic Canadians can’t afford the increase nor should they have to accept it.”
Paul Davis announced on October 11, 2016 that he was stepping down as leader of the Newfoundland and Labrador PC Party and the party has yet to announce the date to select his successor.
We will all be interested to see the position the possible candidates for leader of the Newfoundland and Labrador PC Party will have on carbon taxes. It is critical to working families of Newfoundland and Labrador that there is a leader of an official provincial party that is willing to fight to Axe the Carbon Tax.
