Brian Pallister: Axe the Carbon Tax!
MARCH 31 - THE NEW EXTENDED DEADLINE
On Friday, March 17, the Manitoba government made a surprise announcement when they extended the deadline to complete their online Carbon Tax Survey from March 19 to March 31.
For 7 days prior to March 17, Axe the Carbon Tax was making Manitobans aware of the Pallister government's online Carbon Tax Survey.
You can see our original landing page asking Manitobans to take the survey by clicking here.
Interesting enough, March 31 was the date that Premier Pallister had originally planned to release his carbon tax plan.
So why has the government extended the time for the survey, doubling the time for the survey from 2 weeks to 4 weeks? By admitting that they received an “overwhelming” number of responses to their survey – presumably more than they were expecting – wouldn’t the number of responses be sufficient enough for them to make an informed decision to take the position that they should be fighting to Axe the Carbon Tax?
The likely scenario is that the Manitoba government has, in effect, granted itself an extension on the survey, presumably to give Carbon Tax supporters time to launch their own campaign, to allow the few Carbon Tax supporters out there time to become aware of the survey.
We cannot stop now! We need more carbon tax opponents to take the online Carbon Tax survey and let Brian Pallister know that:
- You are against a Carbon Tax that will hurt Manitoba's economy, put Manitoba at an economic disadvantage, and increase the price of gas, heating, farming, and many many other goods and services without doing anything to help the environment; and
- Manitoba’s Premier needs to stand shoulder to shoulder with Premier Brad Wall of Saskatchewan and, together, oppose Justin Trudeau's demands for a carbon tax!
Take the survey!
There is no clear YES / NO question in the survey as to whether or not you want a Justin Trudeau style carbon tax in Manitoba.
If you want to have your say, you can do two things.
The second question in the survey is: “What should a Made-in-Manitoba carbon price look like?”
The fourth possible answer to this question is:
“Other: (please specify)”_______________”
and in the space provided you can type your response.
For example, you could say “NO CARBON TAX” or “STAND WITH BRAD WALL AND JUST SAY NO” or "Manitobans Should Be Able to Vote in a Referendum Before Having to Pay for a Carbon Tax" or something like that.
Also, at the very end of the survey, there is this final question:
“Do you have any additional comments or suggestions?”
In this space provided, you can type a message for Brian Pallister and tell him what you think of the carbon tax.
